Buick makes Rendezvous to break into truck market

Buick Co will use Rendezvous, a minivan-based sport-utility vehicle to make a foray into the hot truck market. The brand's first truck since 1923, Rendezvous was built using the platform that underpins Chevrolet Venture, Pontiac Montana and Oldsmobile Silhouette. Features include the four-wheel drive system Versatrak and a third-row seat. Buick plans to give the first Rendezvous to golfer Tiger Woods, the spokesperson for Buick.

Automakers go for size, power, style in new SUVs
Article Abstract:
The 2000 New York Auto Show highlighted automakers' continued love affair with sport utility vehicles as can be gleaned from several models exhibited in the show. Among the models unveiled were the Toyota Highlander, the second generation of the Toyota RAV4, General Motors Corp's Denali and C-Series and the Oldsmobile Bravada. Toyota's RAV4 has more power and reduced noise levels compared to its predecessor.
