CP steers shipping unit out of the backwater

Canadian Pacific Ltd. is the leader on some of the busiest trading routes in the world with a global-scale shipping fleet that anticipates sales exceeding C$2 billion in 1998. The company has become a major player with claims of being one of the most profitable container shipping lines of all. Canadian Pacific (CP) is currently ranked as the 14th-biggest container shipping company in the world with 49 modern ships following a one-year spending spree that cost $1 billion. CP shipping division CEO Ray Miles is planning further expansion and grow from a revenue of C$1.5 billion in 1997 and operating profit of C$135 million, excluding full results for three major acquisitions.

Bruce reactor's restart may be late, utility says

British Energy PLC said that one of its two frozen Bruce Power nuclear reactors in Ontario, Canada may not be restarted for two more weeks. Both Bruce reactors together produce 1,500 megawatts of power.
