Canada Life meeting promises to be unruly
Article Abstract:
Canada Life Assurance Co's meeting of 388,000 voting policy holders, who will decide its C$3.7-billion plan of going public, is expected to be mired with protest. A dozen or more protesters want to hold a demonstration outside Toronto, Canada's downtown convention center where the meeting will be held. They are protesting Canada Life's decision to appeal a court decision that orders it to pay out on a disputed mortgage insurance policy held by Gladys Stewart, a widow living in Plattsville, Ontario.
