Honda, Saturn weigh taking a turn into market for pickups
Article Abstract:
Honda and Saturn are considering the development of pickups. Honda appears likely to come out with a pickup-style vehicle sooner than Saturn. Honda is unveiling a concept vehicle called Model X at the Detroit auto show in Jan 2001. The vehicle would be targeted at young men who need a versatile, reliable vehicle with an interior that is easy to clean. Saturn's intterest in pickups is less certain. It is displaying Vue, Saturn's 2002 SUV, at the auto show in Washington, DC, in Dec 2000. The SUV is is third model of four that Saturn needs to round out its line in hte future. The company has not yet decided what the fourth vehicle will be.

Carmaker follows 'Toyota Way': Company is driven to raise market success

The big automaker Toyota is introducing Lexus RX 330 sport-utility vehicles for the North American market off a new assembly line on 26 September 2003, which is the first time that the company has allowed its premium brand to be manufactured anywhere but Japan. The company hopes that the quality remains identical to Japan-made vehicles so that buyers don't know where their Rxs were made.
