Cheap - and deadly: heroin usage is up because of a price drop
Article Abstract:
The quality of heroin increased dramatically even though the price dropped from $600 per gram to $300 per gram while efforts to limit cocaine smuggling in the late 1980s. The increase in the number of overdoses is attributed to the higher grades. Efforts of treatment programs are described.
