Millions of people ill because of tainted blood

The World Health Organization, which cited 120 countries, said the global blood supply is unsafe. The WHO, which reported that blood shortages are endemic, estimated that about 125,000 women die in childbrith because safe blood products are unavailable.

Report says 10,000 die of smoking each day

Tobacco Control, which is a public health journal, has reported that about 10,000 people die of smoking worldwide each day. The report, which cites that about 1.15 billion people smoke throught the world, predicts that about 27,500 people will die from smoking each day by 2020.

Children often receive drugs aimed at adults, European study finds
Article Abstract:
A new report by the European Network for Drug Investigation in Children has revealed that two-thirds of hospitalized children receive medication intended only for adults. The study, which was published in the British Medical Association Journal, also discovered that European pediatricians commonly prescribe such drugs.
