Congress seeks details on tire recall situation
Article Abstract:
Congress will question Bridgestone/Firestone and Ford Motor Co executives on issues regarding the tread separation problems on Firestone tires which led to their recall. Among the issues to be discussed are the extent which Bridgestone/Firestone and Ford officials knew the problem and when they knew it. Bridgestone/Firestone will also be asked whether there is a link between plant problems and workmanship in Firestone plants.

Free maintenance work for car buyers
Article Abstract:
Automakers offer free maintenance and repair work on new vehicles in an effort to attract customers to dealerships and address complaints that car maintenance is expensive. Free maintenance work includes oil changes, tire rotation, refilling fluids, replacing parts such as brakes and wiper blades. BMW is the latest car maker to join the bandwagon of offering free maintenance work on its whole 2000 car models. Germany's Mercedes-Benz also announced a free maintenance plan for its whole 2000 vehicle models.
