Corel returns to profitability
Article Abstract:
Corel Corp. of Ottawa, Ontario, has returned to profitability, posting a profit before onetime charges of US$8-million in the third quarter ended Aug. 31, 1998. However, the company actually lost $7.8-million after a $15.8-million restructuring charge. Six months ago, the company unveiled a low-cost version of WordPerfect to compete with Microsoft's office software. Although the company experienced losses in the past six quarters as its expenses continued to increase while revenues dried up, the company is finally getting back into profitability.
