Court approves Eaton's switch to the CCAA
Article Abstract:
Insolvent department store chain T Eaton Co Ltd of Toronto, Canada, has received the Ontario court's approval to operate under the protection of the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. The transfer from bankruptcy protection would give the troubled company more flexibility in managing its affairs and putting up a plan to pay back at least C$330 million in debt. The move is also a condition of Sears Canada Inc's deal to buy Eaton's shares and up to 13 of its stores.
