In an interview, US Ambassador to Australia Tom Schieffer explained that comments made by Labor Party leaders critical of George W. Bush in his plans to attack Iraq are more a reflection of internal Labor Party politics than anti-American sentiment in Australia. Labor Party leader Simon Crean is currently is 'in the doghouse' as far as the US is concerned for failing to protest negative comments made about Bush. Schieffer also mentioned that the US and Australia will begin to work on a free trade agreement.
