Did Chretien lie?
Article Abstract:
Chretien's appearance on a CBC town-hall forum has prompted assertions that he is out-of-touch, uncaring and even a liar. Chretien claimed that he never promised to abolish the Goods and Services Tax although he clearly had during his 1993 campaign. Chretien's other controversial remarks are discussed.

The isolation of Jean Chretien
Article Abstract:
Chretien may be losing popularity due to his isolation. He makes his best decisions on instinct, but that instinct is shaped by interactions with people who tell them what they believe. He is no longer exposed to these people, and the people he does see tend to tell him what he wants to hear.
