Doman reports loss, covenant breach
Article Abstract:
Doman Industries Ltd. has posted a loss of C$74.6 million on sales of C$779.2 million in 1998, from a loss of $2.3 million on $736.7 million in 1997. The loss has been attributed to the effects of meltdown in Asian markets and limited access to the US because of a bilateral softwood lumber agreement that bans Canadian exports. The company reported an inventory worth C$372 million by the end of 1998. In addition, Doman has a term credit facility of C$100 million due in the spring of 2000.
