Eatons's seek more inventory for sales

Article Abstract:

Insolvent department store chain T Eaton Co Ltd of Toronto, Ontarion, has asked the court to lift the ceiling that restricts new inventory puchases for its liquidation sales to C$75 million. The new goods would be shipped to seven stores which Sears Canada Inc will manage starting Nov 1, 1999. However, the proposal is being opposed by landlords because extending the liquidation sales would take away business for other mall tenants.

Eatons pensioners win claim

Toronto, Ont.-based Eaton's of Canada Ltd. has lost a ruling in which pensioners had sought about $30 million in discount purchases. Eaton's, which had been acquired by Sears Canada Inc., has sought bankruptcy protection.
