South-East Asian politican Lee Kuan Yew, spoke to the Australia chapter of the Asia Society in Sydney in late 2000, and addressed the problems Australia is having in finding its place in Asia. He also pointed out the economic success of North-East Asia, which he believes is due to the adoption of the Confucian philosophy of hard work, thrift, and educating the younger generations to improve the future.
