Fight Against Fat Shifting to the Workplace
Article Abstract:
Corporations, such as Sprint and Union Pacific Railroad, are using a variety of strategies to help obese employees with their weight reduction efforts or assist other employees in avoiding weight increases. Companies are reacting to an HHS report that revealed obesity generated a price tag of $117 billion in 2000 and is responsible for 300,000 annual deaths. What is evident is that technological innovations contribute to less physical movement and activity in the workplace, a slower metabolic pace and more impact on weight gain.
