Agreement on Internet taxes eludes deeply divided commission
Article Abstract:
The US commission appointed to advise Congress on Internet taxes may have no recommendations to report after a political split between committee factions. Eleven of the 19 committee members, representing the business and anti-tax factions have sided with Chairman James S. Glimore III, favoring a moratorium on Internet taxation until at least 2006. The Internet Tax Freedom Act, which brought the commission into being, calls for a majority vote of two-thirds or 13 of the commission members.

Panel on taxing Internet sales ends its meetings in disagreement
Article Abstract:
The meeting of 19 member Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce agreed on every issue but one for extending sales taxes to Internet businesses. The panel couldn't agree on whether businesses that have sales personnel in a state and sell over the Internet should pay sales tax. The commission members seemed to fall into three groups: five against taxation, six business representatives, and eight from various government offices. The panels report moves to Congress without a recommendation
