The economy of U.S. expanded at an annual rate of 4.3 percent in the second quarter of 2004, as exports increased, fuelling the case for a Bank of Canada interest rate increase in the second week of September 2004. Eric Lascelles, economist with Toronto-Dominion Bank states that the report, estimating the statistics, painted a picture of robust economic growth and provided signals of solid gains.

Bank signals rates may hold
