'Contaminated' farm seed sold in genetic mixup
Article Abstract:
The Canadian government admits that in 1997 it allowed genetically engineered canola seeds to be used by farmers. The seeds, which were produced by Monsanto Canada Inc., were recalled after a government investigation.

Genetically modified crops not fully tested, scientist says

Ann Clark, a professor of plant agriculture at the University of Guelph, has said that the Canadian government's data demonstrates that genetically modified foods require further testing. Health Canada's own data shows that 70% of 42 genetically modified crops consumed by Canadians have not been tested for levels of toxicity.

U.S. firm says Ottawa bungled lumber pact
Article Abstract:
Lumber company Pope and Talbot Inc. is seeking more than $125 million from the Canadian government for alleged mishandling of the Canada-US softwood lumber agreement. The company, which has operations in British Columbia, claimed 6.3% of its quota allocation slipped away because the federal government unfairly redistributed it to other companies. Pope and Talbot also claimed that share of lumber companies in British Columbia dropped from 59% of the total quota to 56% while Quebec's share increased from 23% to 25.3%.
