Article Abstract:
The base pay for directors at Canada's top companies increase by almost 30% in 2003, propelled by significantly longer work hours and stiff competition to recruit experienced candidates. The companies revealed that the main reason for increasing compensation is the growing time commitment required by the directors, as the committees are meeting more often and the directors are being asked to do more work to prepare for meetings.
