Tatyana Dyachenko, Yeltsin's younger daughter, acts as nurse and counselor to the Russian president. She has an official position as presidential adviser that gives her control of access to Yeltsin. Her job includes keeping him away from alcohol and telling him unpleasant things that others do not dare to say. She is believed to have played a minor role in the 1998 cabinet shake-up.
