Experts reveal that the property slump or soft landing is causing hardship but will not push the economy into recession as it did in 1990. The federal Treasurer reports that that the decline in housing sector activity will be offset by a lift in the export sector since the cessation of the wealth effect from rising home prices will be offset by improved terms of trade and increased export receipts.
