Edelman is the organizer of the Stand for Children movement, which focuses on the needs of young people. The first rally was held on Jun 1, 1996, in Washington DC. Edelman wants the public to be aware of the needs of children and be prepared to help.

Broadbent, 13, has spent much of her short life traveling the country educating people about AIDS. The teenager was born HIV-positive and addicted to drugs. The sixth grader receives experimental treatments at the National Institutes of Health.
