In the line of fires
Article Abstract:
Victoria, an active proponent of aerial firefighting since 1929 and the first state to deploy the large heavy lift helicopter 'Elvis', the Erickson S-64F Aircrane, leads Australia and the world in the science and practice of fire rappelling, an activity similar to abseiling down a cliff or wall. Rappelers and other firefighters play a vital role in fire protection work, especially bushfire control.
