Inco's $1.9-billion (US) Goro nickel project is finally a go

Inco Ltd launched its massive Goro nickel-cobalt project, as it is confident in its new $1.9 billion (US) estimate and timeline that calls for production to begin in September 2007. Goro, a high-grade deposit that is a key part of Inco's plan to boost its nickel output by 50 percent originally was supposed to come into production in late 2004.

Inco finds cost savings that could restart Goro

A massive cost savings program has been launched by Inco Ltd. at its nickel mining operations in Goro, New Caledonia. Inco, which put an initial cost of $1.45 billion on the Goro project, may be forced to spend as much as $2.1 billion.
