Article Abstract:

The study aims to examine the influence of stroke survivors' motor function, their memory and behavior changes, and the family conflict surrounding stroke recovery on the mental and physical health of caregivers during the subacute recovery period. It concluded that memory, behavior changes of stroke survivors, and family conflict surrounding stroke recovery is an important consideration for assessment during the poststroke recovery period.

Family education and support interventions in heart failure

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to compare a patient and family education (EDUC) intervention with a combined education and family partnership intervention (EDUC+FPI) for effects on improving dietary sodium self-management in persons with heart failure (HF). While both groups decreased dietary sodium (Diet NA) and urinary sodium (Urine NA) from baseline to 3 months, the EDUC+FPI group showed greater decrease in Urine NA.

Keepin' it R.E.A.L.! Results of a mother-adolescent HIV prevention program

Article Abstract:

The efficacy of two HIV prevention interventions for mothers and their adolescents through a Keepin' it R.E.A.L.! program is presented. This program did not demonstrate a substantial effect on abstinence rates, increases were observed in condom use among adolescents and in mother's sex-based discussions and comfort in talking about sexual issues.
