The ABC's coverage of the Iraq war was very poor with only one correspondent covering Iraq, leading to speculations that the good days of ABC were over with almost no chances of revival. The problems faced by ABC can be attributed to the lack of funds, poor coverage of current news and the good war coverage of the competitors.

The ABC's Independent Complaints Review Panel has brusquely rebuffed a bid to nobble its freedom to investigate complaints into the public broadcaster. The panel is checking whether the broadcaster has truly independent complaints review process in between Alston and the ABC.
