Singer/musician Norah Jones, daughter of sitarist Ravi Shankar, was born in New York but moved to Texas with her mother when she was four years old. As a child she sang in the church choir, and eventually she went to the Booker T Washington High School for Performing Arts in Dallas. She attended the University of North Texas, and eventually moved to New York where she formed a band.
