Labatt ditches ad after complaints
Article Abstract:
Labatt Brewing Co. Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario, has terminated a popular commercial ad which showed a high-speed shopping cart chase after it received complaints about the ad. The ad showed a group of people rushing through downtown traffic to return the carts to the grocery store. Advertising Standards Canada (ASC), which regulates Canada's ad industry, received 15 complaints from viewers about the ad. ASC ruled that the ad violated the section of its code which governs public safety and ordered the company to pull out the ad.
