The Australian Labor Party's (ALP) indecisiveness over policy issues like the asylum-seeker issue has left doubt concerning the cohesiveness and strength of the party. The doubt caused Labor candidates like Kim Beazley, Lindsay Tanner and Nicola Roxon to lose voters to other parties, namely the Greens. Critics note that the ALP must get onto rebuilding and restoring faith within its consituency

A personal view of the public and political aspects affecting the price of petrol in Australia is presented. In particular it is argued that cheap petrol prices are not a right but a privilege that could be dispensed with for environmental reasons.
