Large energy firms opt out of new oil patch policy
Article Abstract:
The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has framed a new policy governing the way in which the oil patch measures exploration costs and reserves. Some of Canada's biggest energy companies, who feel that the regulations place them at a competitive disadvantage with US firms, have opted out of the policy on conditions including compliance with the equivalent rules of the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

B.C. sets record for sales of oil and gas rights
Article Abstract:
British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell praised the record sale of the province's oil and gas rights for $418 million. Industry analysts said that major oil producers already drilling in the province include Apache Canada Ltd., EnCana Corp. and Talisman Energy Inc.
