Laurentian looks to rivals for partnership in Quebec

Laurentian Bank of Canada is hoping to improve its lacklustre profitability and regain the confidence of the investors by merging its Quebec retail operations with one of the Big Five banks. Laurentian would attempt to persuade one of its larger Toronto rivals to give up its Quebec branch network in exchange for a significant minority stake in the Montreal-based bank.
