Russia plans to deploy a 66-foot space mirror on Feb 4, 1993, that is designed to deflect sunlight to the dark side of the earth. The mirror, known as Banner, could one day be used to extend the workday or to aid the management of emergencies that occur at night.

canada is second only to the US in the rate of child poverty. The number of Canadian living below the poverty level has increased 45% since 1989. Poverty is hitting a wider proportion of family. About 55% are 2-parent families.
