Lumber duties threaten B.C. mill closings

A trade war over lumber may lead to closures of lumber plants in British Columbia if U.S. regulators impose new tariffs on imported Canadian lumber products. The Northern Forest Products Association and other lumber industry groups claim that British Columbia's lumber exports to the U.S. have dropped by about half for March 2001.

Think tank touts free trade with Japan
