Magna doesn't plan fund for former slave workers at Austrian auto assembler
Article Abstract:
Magna International Inc., a Canadian auto parts giant, has declared it does not intend to set up compensation fund for plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit fled against Steyr Daimler, the Austrian assembler that it purchased in 1998. The class-action suit was filed in New York by former slave laborers that Steyr Daimler allegedly used during the Nazi era. Graham Orr, executive vice president of corporate development at Magna International, said his company is still studying the issue but added that it is up to the German and the Austrian governments to set up a compensation fund.
