Magna executive shakeup said in the cards

With the privatization of Magna International Inc.'s three publicly held subsidiaries, changes are in the offing in the top ranks of the auto parts company. Former chief executive Don Walker is expected to return to Magna as executive vice-chairman and co-CEO, after serving as president and CEO for four years and as chairman for thirteen months at Interior Automotive, Magna's interiors and components division. The present incumbents of the posts include Fred Gingi and Siegfried Wolf.

Magna faces shareholder fight over pay and stock structure

Magna International Inc. is facing criticism from large investors over the lucrative $54-million compensation package awarded in 2003 to chairman Frank Stronach and the company's dual-class share structure. Some of Canada's largest pension and mutual funds reported that they would withhold their votes for all 12 of the auto parts company's proposed directors.
