Markets rally on buying binge
Article Abstract:
The stockmarket got a much-needed boost on Nov 14, 2000, after it experienced a massive, across-the-board rally. A day after the Nasdaq composite closed below 3000 for the first time since 1999, investors snapped up stocks that they felt were too cheap to ignore. The buying binge has resulted in big gains for wounded big-cap techs such as Cisco Systems, which rose $2.50 to $52.87, Intel which rose $2.56 to $40.75, and Microsoft, which rose $2 to $68.44. The buying binge was sparked by solid earnings from retailing giants Home Depot and Wal-Mart, two of the most respected strategists on Wall Street.
