Australian and American officials are debating meat export rules and quality assurance processes. The US rejected Australian proposal Project 2, which would have authorized the beef industry to monitor meat quality and safety inspections. The US is considering an alternative system, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, which prohibits bacteria from infiltrating the process.
