Steve Miller CEO of newly bankrupt auto part maker Delphi Corporation proposed to reduce hourly labor cost which is high because of pension and health care, by persuading the United Auto Worker (UAW) to take compensation cuts in order to become competitive in global economy. This model needs to be supplemented by government help in health care and pension as all of industrial America is facing this problem.
