New Geac CEO sees upside in Y2K bug
Article Abstract:
Software firm Geac Computer Corporation Ltd of Markham, Ontario, has named Douglas Bergeron as its new CEO and president, replacing William Nelson. Bergeron believes that its customer base of 20,000 and 28-year track record will help the company to take advantage of opportunities brought by the Y2K problem. Geac, with its C$230-million warchest, is planning to acquire struggling application software companies whose revenes and stock values have been deflated by the Y2K bug.
