Nissan plans massive job cuts
Article Abstract:
Nissan Motor Co plans to cut no less than 20,000 jobs and close more than one assembly plant in effort to improve its bottomline. The planned move represents the biggest downsizing of employees and production levels in the history of Japan's auto industry. The biggest impact will be felt in Tokyo, Japan, where a majority of the automaker's more than 14,000 employees reside and seven of its assembly plants are located. Aside from improving profits, the Nissan Revival Plan seeks to speed up the development of new cars in the pipeline and add several models to its brand.
