Article Abstract:
The photographs showing the plight of the prisoners at Abu Gharib Prison has shocked the world. The soldiers of the United States military allege that the prisoners of Abu Gharib were subjected to harsh punishments on the orders of higher officials, but Donald Rumsfeld, who is in charge of the most powerful military in the history of the world offered his apologies and accepted the responsibility for the actions of the soldiers but was unable to provide a satisfying answer.

The Pentagon is planning to withdraw some of its troops from Iraq by 2006. The United States will hand over control of 14 of the 18 provinces to Iraq by early 2006 and reduce its troop strength to 66,000 describes the Pentagon officials who are involved in the plan.
