Chapters Inc. is planning to repurchase its struggling online business and book wholesaler. Chapters is planning to make Chapters Online Inc. an acquisition offer of C$18 million in cash, and Pegasus Wholesale Inc. an offer of C$7.5 million for the 15% of the wholesaler that it does not already own. Chapters owns 69% of Chapters Online.

The OSC (Ontario Securities Commission) has decided to throw out Chapters Inc.'s request for the data of its rival, Indigo Books and Music Inc. Thus, Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman can go forward with their sweetened $73.3-million bid for control of Chapters Inc. without having to reveal confidential information.
