Onex adds to its U.S. metal component business

Canadian holding firm Onex Corp has acquired door maker Republic Builders Products of McKenzie, TN, for $46 million through its American Buildings Co subsidiary. Onex declared that its acquisition of Republic will improve its status in the engineered building products industry. Onex acquired American Buildings in May. Republic manufactures steel doors which are not made by American Buildings.

Newcourt, CIT hi by takeover news
Article Abstract:
CIT Group Inc of New York will acquire Newcourt Group Inc in a revised stock deal valued at $2.5 billion. Under the new deal, Newcourt shareholders will receive 0.7 shares of Newcourt for each share held. The original proposal which was presented in Mar 1998 involves the swap of CIT shares for each Newcourt share. The difference is about $800 million from the original offer price.
