Article Abstract:
The wind would slow just long enough to gather strength and slam against the house from a different direction. The older people in the room would slowly back away from the windows. The wind would return, screaming as it crashed into the house. Houses that could stand no longer would erupt into pieces.

Ontario on my mind
Article Abstract:
My roots in Ontario are deep. My grandfather arrived in 1850, then my father came sixty years later. Although I have always thought of myself as Canadian, I have not always felt Ontarian. However, the social unrest in the Canada of the 1990s has forced me to reexamine and reinforce my ties to Ontario.

Pratt has achieved the status of a major Canadian artist despite living in rural Newfoundland, isolated from the art world. She is a realistic painter who depicts scenes from everyday life. The current exhibit features 58 oil paintings and watercolors.
