Patent disputes: 'Anything made by man'
Article Abstract:
The passage of the U.S.1952 Patent act brought in a half-century of largely favorable developments for patent holders and applications, with the emerging biotechnology and information technology and information technology industries won major victories in the 1980s with Supreme Court decisions approving patent protections for genetically engineered organisms and computer-program applications. Court rulings on some patent-related disputes during the period are discussed.
