Petro-Canda sells seven gas properties

Petro-Canada sold seven producing natural gas properties in Alberta and British Columbia in a $272.4-million deal, completing the company's plan to divest its noncore natural gas producers. The company sold the Whitecourt property, the largest producer of the divested properties, to Richland Petroleum Corp. and Ionic Energy Inc. for $66-million. Storm Energy Inc., Anderson Exploration Ltd., and Paramount Resources Ltd. also bought property.

Gulf acquires Crestar for $1.6-billion

Crestar Energy Inc., which is an oil and gas company, will be acquired by Calgary, Alb.-based Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. for $1.6 billion. The deal will form the fifth-largest independent oil and gas company in Canada.
