Future of Catholic Church: Abuse repercussions
Article Abstract:
Church authorities of Los Angeles agreed to pay $60 million in 2006 to 45 people who claimed that they were abused by priests, however about 2,000 lawsuits are still pending nationwide. As per statistics, there are ten such agreements in the major, multi-plaintiff lawsuits, with payout of $134 million for 983 plaintiffs by archdioceses, totaling to a cost of more than $1.4 billion to the church.
