Probing a bloodbath
Article Abstract:
The US military is investigating Marines belonging to the Kilo Company stationed in the Iraqi town of Haditha, who are accused by eye-witnesses of killing 24 Iraqis, including women and children, on the morning of November 19, 2005. Haditha underscores an uncomfortable truth of the Iraq war, where young men join the Marines to be brave knights in noble combat, and are taught how to fire their weapons and kill the enemy, but do not spend much time learning how to be tolerant of people who speak a different language and practice a different religion.
