Promoter backs titanium project
Article Abstract:
David Winchell, a 69-year-old mine promoter, supports a titanium project that could help turnaround the fortunes of the ailing Sydney Steel Corp (Sysco) of Nova Scotia. Winchell is raising money to mine titanium from a Nova Scotia mineral sands deposit discovered by Nova Scotia-incorporated Titanium Corp of Canada Ltd. The titanium ore and byproducts mined from the deposit will be used in the steel-making process.

Dupont investors put deal in jeopardy
Article Abstract:
E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. has made an offer to buy out the minority shareholders of its DuPont Canada Inc. unit. The offer stands at 1.4 billion Canadian dollars for the 24% of the unit that E.I. duPont does not already own. However, several institutional investors said that they would not tender the deal, thereby placing it in trouble.
