Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Northwest Territories Premier Stephen Kakfwi met to discuss the province's diamond and gas exploration sectors. Mr. Kakfwi claimed that the province is losing money while companies profit from the diamond and natural gas reserves.

China gets nod for next trade mission

Canada's Prime Minister Jean Chretien will head Team Canada's annual trade mission to China. Team Canada, which selected China over Europe for its next trade mission, has scheduled the trip for sometime in November 2000.
